Ugo Cipriani was born in Florence Italy in 1897. One of his most famous works is the Bust of the patriot Guglielmo Oberdan (1919) at the Piazza Oberdan. In 1935 he left Italy for France to escape from Mussolini's fascist government. He lived and worked in Paris until his death in 1960. He produced many fine art deco style statuary items in various media, including bronze, spelter and terracotta.
